If there was one word to sum up The Dreggs, it would be "seasoned".

Three of the five members of The Dreggs were members of an award-winning roots rock ensemble that disbanded in 2007 after 5 years, 3 albums, and thousands of miles touring together. Says Poncho Cochran, guitarist and producer for the group, "After years of writing and recording together, we now have a sense of perspective that can only come with experience as a group".

Cochran, along with singer/songwriter Mark Cary and guitarist Nick Cary, have teamed up with bassist Peewee Cochran (a songwriter and producer in his own right) and drummer Cole Adams to create The Dreggs.

The band has just released their first single, the title track from their new CD "Barstools and Brimstone", to radio and are looking forward to a busy schedule in support of the new album.

The Dreggs sound? Cochran describes it as "big guitar Americana with a touch of mandolin." As for the songs, most depict a dark unsettling view of life, love, and a lack thereof. "I started writing some of these songs in 2008, as much for therapy as any other reason," said Mark Cary. "Happy, beer-drinking songs are good for the soul, but if you spend a little time with your own inner demons, as a writer it can be pretty gratifying."
